Finca Lomaverde sits in the hills of Antioquia, in north-west Colombia, on land Pedro Echavarría Sr. began farming in the 1970s when he bought a small, abandoned farm in his home state. His son Pedro now runs the family’s coffee, and when climate change and labour shortages started to bite, he chose to farm less of the land and farm it better, planting more shade, cutting back on chemicals and borrowing practices from the smallholders the family buys from through their export business. Many of the farm’s staff have been there over a decade, and the family supports them with housing, scholarships for their children, and help buying land of their own when they retire.
EA Decaffeination
This coffee has had more than 99% of its caffeine removed using the Ethyl Acetate (EA) Process. Ethyl Acetate is a natural product derived from fermented fruit and sugarcane, and it is used to bond with and remove the coffee beans' caffeine, while leaving the flavour and sweetness intact.

Whole beans or pre-ground?
Coffee deteriorates much faster once it is ground, making whole beans the ideal way to purchase coffee. If you don't have a grinder though, all good!
Grind Guide
Whole Beans - not ground, you have your own grinder
Commercial Espresso - very fine for a commercial espresso machine
Home Espresso - quite fine for a domestic espresso machine
Stovetop - fine for percolator / moka pot
Aeropress - medium for Aeropress
Pour Over - medium for pour over
Plunger - coarse for plunger / french press
Batch Brewer - very coarse for Moccamaster and other batch brewers
